Crate-al Attraction

Ever want to be Indiana Jones? Ever ask yourself how Harrison Ford survived a nuclear explosion by climbing into a fridge?  Ever wonder what George Lucas is thinking?  Well, the following addresses at least one of those three issues. 40 Years ago as part of their “Hide A Case” contest, Canadian Club hid at least two dozen whisky crates in the most adventurous places in the world – some of which still haven’t been found!  But where are they?  Good question.   The answer: somewhere on this planet, I assume (no word on whether or not someone took a crate up to the moon).

LexPR/Beam threw an adventure-themed press conference, slash cocktail party, at Billy Jamieson’s famed Toronto home/museum.   Filled with lots of interesting artifacts and creepy relics, it was the perfect setting for this uber-cool contest.

Adventure fiend, Iron Chef floor reporter, and Thirsty Traveller Kevin Brauch was in attendance.

You can get all the details at www.hideacase.com, and with $100,000 (USD) in prize money on the line, it’s certainly worth looking into.

(alternate cheesy crate/booze-related titles for this blog post include: Planet Of The Crates, Treasure Rye-land, The Crate Race, Can’t Hardly Crate, and The Crating Game)

May The 4th Be With You

Today is international Star Wars day (didn’t you know?). In honour, I’m throwing up a few pics from a jaunt on Queen St. over the weekend. Silver Snail had some Star Wars and X-Men characters on the street to pimp some promotion or event (PS: I think Rogue might be a man… yes/no?)

Clash Of The Titans

Here’s a segment I produced for MuchOnDemand. I took MuchMusic VJ Jesse Giddings to Extreme Fitness to get whipped into shape.  Or, at least, that’s the excuse I used to convince people to let me torture him.

Xbox Loves The 80’s

The hills are alive with the sound of synthesizers!  Xbox hosted an 80’s themed party last night at POP night club on Richmond Street in Toronto.  Along with Trevor Boris, I covered the evening for Much Music (okay, so it was mostly Trevor).

Christopher Knight (The Brady Bunch, The Surreal Life) and  Adrianne Curry (America’s Next Top Model, The Surreal Life) weren’t afraid to show some PDA (you’re going to have to wait for the story on MOD to see what they did).

Pan’s Labyrinth & Hellboy’s Doug Jones quashed a few rumours, but, when riled up by Trevor, said the following about his rumoured role as The Riddler in a new Batman project, “They haven’t even written the script yet!” I would think that if he truly had no knowledge of this role, and there wasn’t any mutual interest, that he probably wouldn’t know the status of the script.

Lots of other fun people in attendance. Keep checking in with my twitter to find out when it airs – you don’t want to miss it!

Brosnan Coming To Toronto

I’m told Pierce Brosnan is going to be in Toronto beginning in early April.  I’m unclear as to whether he’s shooting a new film or just promoting something- though I hear Salvation Boulevard begins shooting in April, so that could be it!  Keep those cameras close! Anyone who sends me a picture of Pierce in Toronto wins a prize pack of good karma and general satisfaction.  The actor formerly known as James Bond has a few new projects on his schedule, including: “The Thomas Crown Affair 2,” “Vanilla Gorilla,” and “The Hunter.”

You can also see, err, hear Pierce as the narrator for Disney’s latest doc, “OCEANS,” which drops on April 22nd – aka, Earth Day.
